We have all been working quietly behind the scenes so here is a quick update on progress.
Norwood Junction Underpass – a team of volunteers, have been quietly working to get permission to brighten up the tunnel. We have coordinated with the Councils Highway department who have set a date for maintenance work to be completed in June. Following this, we will arrange the necessary Risk Assessments to enable community volunteers to paint a mural to uplift the space. Rob Swain, formerly of Gamma on Portland Road and Will Barras who has done several murals in South Norwood have offered to assist. A schedule of the work will be posted here in the coming weeks.
South Norwood Digital Hub supporting “Shop Local” project– South Norwood will be leading the pilot/rollout of a Digital Hub Project this month. A first meeting was held between Loquiva ( Marcus Chidgey) and South Norwood Business Network on Thursday 20 May to introduce the Digital Hub and review the plan to roll this out across South Norwood in June. Tamara, our new Business Engagement Officer will be working closely with the Business Network and Loquiva to roll this out and get businesses on board as early adopters. Marcus Chidgey of Loquiva will be filming this week at various business locations like the Portland Arms, Communitea etc.
Annual General Meeting -The next Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, 24th July, 2021 from 11:00 a.m to 12:30 p.m. Location of the meeting is yet to be finalised and will depend on government directives on holding public meetings in confined spaces. Updates will follow.
